Shanling SCD1.3 - SACD Player
The Shanling SCD1.3 shines as a high-end DAC for SACD playback, but has been designed as a multifunctional source component for a variety of hi-fi setups. In addition to SACDs, you can also enjoy playback from local USB drives, convenient Bluetooth streaming or even DLNA, Airplay and NAS support. And while its unbalanced and balanced outputs are the perfect partners for many audiophile amplifiers or active speakers, the included digital inputs can feed even better DACs thanks to the new, advanced I2S support.
Starting with SACD playback, the SCD1.3 uses the MediaTek ME1389EE system together with the Sanyo HD870 laser in a tray mechanism that takes full advantage of the capabilities of high-resolution SACD discs and is also suitable for standard CDs. And for hybrid SACDs there is a special button for easy switching between SACD and CD layers.
The sound tuning of the SCD1.3 is based on the Shanling M9 Plus, with the flagship AKM AK4499EX + AK4191 DAC system at its centre. Highly detailed, with a wide and precise soundstage, but also with a touch of warmth and softness for that classic Shanling sound. With the high-precision volume control and the MUSES8920 as preamplifier, the SCD1.3 can be directly coupled with power amplifiers or active speakers for a simple and high-quality 2-channel speaker setup.
In terms of digital outputs, the Shanling SCD1.3 is the first Shanling model to incorporate a new advanced I2S system with dedicated FPGA circuitry for further customisation of the I2S output. This special feature offers significantly improved compatibility with DACs across the market and includes 10 of the most popular I2s HDMI pinouts at launch. And for simpler DACs, there is the classic combination of coaxial and optical SPDIF.
Note: The playback of SACD discs is converted to PCM 88.2 kHZ for the digital outputs.
For its multifunctional tasks, the Shanling SCD1.3 utilises the latest generation of Shanling's MTouch system, based on the Ingenic X2000 platform and controlled via a 5-inch touchscreen. The new generation of MTouch offers improved speed, a more precise response to touch controls and a simplified user interface that is further customised to the role of the CD player. MTouch also unlocks the wireless capabilities of SCD1.3, a Bluetooth 5.0 receiver function with support for LDAC, aptX HD and AAC, alongside Wi-Fi connectivity that brings in DLNA, Airplay and NAS capabilities.
And if SACD resolution isn't enough, the SCD1.3's Hi-Res capabilities extend up to 32-bit / 768 kHz and DSD512. Connect the SCD1.3 either to a computer via the powerful XMOS XU316 USB input, or connect a USB drive directly to the USB port on the front panel for lossless local playback directly on the SCD1.3.
