New XTM Complex Technology Series: a sophisticated multi-driver IEM in a pure balanced-armature design

The XTM series has always been defined by its commitment to complex engineering and advanced technologies, meticulously applied to achieve pure, exceptional sound reproduction. The Balanced Armature Art series represents a distinct interpretation of this philosophy. Since hybrid driver configurations have come to dominate the market, products built around a pure balanced-armature design have become increasingly rare. Yet the demand for premium pure balanced-armature earphones remains strong. To elevate the inherently pure, cohesive and detailed sonic character of balanced-armature IEMs, and to imbue them with a deeper acoustic philosophy, this new series was developed with fresh design concepts and an unwavering pursuit of sonic purity.

24 Balanced Armature Drivers – Premium Density, Quality, Dynamics

The XTM series is focused on sound reproduction, rather than simply increasing the frequency crossover count. This configuration of 24 drivers per side is not an exaggeration: achieving its full potential requires thoughtful design and hardware allocation, as well as adherence to specific requirements. The Armature Art 24 uses a significant number of specially customized, non-standard components. Through imaginative design and unique engineering, all 24 balanced armature drivers are successfully coordinated and unified into a cohesive system. The result is sound characteristics that only a multi-driver setup can deliver, meeting expectations in terms of density, quality, spatial representation and dynamics.

16BA Superwoofer – Patented Bass Module

Eight groups of 16 drivers form unequal delay channels, recreating the density and rich variation of a real-space soundstage. The innovative SUPERWOOFER module organizes the 16 bass drivers of the Armature Art 24 into eight groups, arranged along the acoustic path in a uniform, gradually delayed sequence. This design enhances sound dispersion and creates a more realistic listening experience. The result is an unprecedented, richly textured background along with a uniquely dense, punchy mid-bass.

Mid-High Balanced Armature Drivers with Aluminum-Magnesium Alloy Diaphragms

In the mid-to-high frequency range, four aluminum-magnesium alloy diaphragms are used to achieve sufficient density and exceptional quality, while minimizing the poor coupling that can occur when stacking multiple mid-range drivers. The lightweight nature of the aluminum-magnesium alloy diaphragm allows for a wider frequency range and faster response compared to traditional aluminum-diaphragm balanced armatures. This sound is further refined through an acoustic channel built using 3D printing, faithfully reproducing the frequency range assigned to each driver.

Upper-Treble Balanced Armature Drivers for Smooth, Detailed Highs

The four custom aluminum-magnesium alloy diaphragm drivers for the upper treble feature a specially designed damping suspension that delivers rapid response and excellent damping characteristics. Each driver is fitted with precisely 3D-printed acoustic channels that effectively minimize phase interference in the upper-treble range, resulting in smooth, detailed reproduction of the highest frequencies.

Precise Phase Alignment for a Faithful, Accurate Soundstage

As products become more sophisticated, controlling the many variables involved becomes increasingly challenging. That's why few development teams can successfully balance musicality and sonic accuracy in intricate, high-driver-count earphones like the Armature Art 24. For MOONDROP's engineers, however, the more complex the driver configuration, the more rigorously it must be fine-tuned, down to every last detail.

In-Depth Collaboration with Leading 3D-Printing Partner HeyGears

The intricate acoustic structure of the XTM series presents significant challenges for the accuracy and reliability of the 3D-printing process. After several years of collaboration, a long-term strategic partnership has been formed with HeyGears Technology, a leader in 3D printing. Thanks to their high-precision DLP 3D-printing technology and an ongoing alignment on accuracy and stability requirements, it is now possible to mass-produce components with complex structures that meet stringent precision standards.

Unique, Ever-Changing "Ice Flower" Pattern

The Armature Art 24's faceplate is made from a ferroalloy material, with a surface featuring a stunning crystal texture reminiscent of an ice flower. This effect is achieved through an elaborate process and further enhanced by a nitriding treatment that significantly boosts wear resistance, ensuring the beautiful ice-flower pattern lasts over time.

Interchangeable 0.78 mm 2-Pin Cable Design

This model is equipped with a 0.78 mm 2-pin socket, allowing the listening experience to be expanded by swapping cables or accessories, such as the EVO module or the FreeDSP Pro cable. To help match the cable to individual setups, a newly designed earphone cable with an interchangeable plug is included, featuring a newly designed screw-fixed connector that combines aesthetic design with practicality.

Premium Single-Crystal Copper and Pure Silver Hybrid Cable

The cable was carefully selected based on extensive user testing and internal evaluation. It consists of 19 cores of high-quality single-crystal copper and 19 cores of pure silver, delivering a dense, punchy and solid mid-bass without the need for a cable upgrade. The outer layer is wrapped in a durable woven material for added longevity.

Three Types of Ear Tips for a Personalized Fit

The Armature Art 24 comes with three different types of ear tips. In addition to traditional silicone tips and UC tips, a new ATF-series tip made from a combination of sponge and silicone is included. This innovative design offers flexible memory foam with slow resilience, enhancing comfort and providing excellent noise isolation. Its unique structure and material composition help eliminate the drawbacks that traditional foam ear tips can have on sound quality.
