SMSL D300 - An affordable D/A converter equipped with a high-end DAC chip

Due to our recent partnership with Foshan Shuangmusanlin Technology Co Ltd, founded in Shenzhen in 2009, we have also added the SMSL D300 to our portfolio. This stereo USB DAC is an attractively priced model that scores with a high-end converter. Specifically, this is the ROHM BD34301EKV. With this chip, ROHM joins ESS and AKM as a manufacturer of high-end 32-bit D/A converters.

An XMOS XU-208 32bit chip was integrated in the USB-B input. This chip enables the decoding of USB audio streams and works very precisely. In combination with the high-end DAC from ROHM, high-resolution streams are possible, we are talking about up to 32bit 769kHz PCM and native DSD512. Hi-res is of course also supported.

The heart: The ROHM BD34301EKV

The ROHM BD34301EKV is currently the most powerful high-end 32-bit D/A converter from ROHM, an established Japanese manufacturer of electronic components. This converter has been optimised for high performance audio applications and offers a SNR of 130 dB and a low THD+N value of -116 dB. The user gets the quality of sound that he or she uses.

High-quality connections, jitter reduction and wireless use

The SMSL D300 relies on a wide range of high-quality and gold-plated connections. We have USB, optical and coaxial digital inputs as well as analogue unbalanced and balanced outputs. The special feature here is the CK-03 clock processing circuit, which reduces the temporal clock jitter in the transmission of digital signals to a level where both the optical and coaxial connections are on a par with the USB port. If you want to transmit sound wirelessly, you can use Bluetooth 5.0. All common standards such as SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD and LDAC are supported, so nothing stands in the way of personal music enjoyment.

New rotary switch and tempered glass display set accents

Foshan Shuangmusanlin Technology Co. Ltd. uses a high-resolution colour display with an integrated switch-off function. It is protected by a tempered glass that has been optimised for high light transmission and promises a long service life. The button for adjusting the volume is the visual highlight next to the display. This rotary knob is embedded in the housing and does not protrude. This results in a noble design that appears timeless and does not try to come to the fore.
